Origin Quantum Introduces Fourth-Generation Wukong-180 Quantum Computer

Origin Quantum has officially launched its latest superconducting quantum computing system, the Wukong-180, marking the company’s fourth-generation quantum platform and another major step in China’s domestic quantum technology development.

The new system features a fully self-developed superconducting quantum chip alongside an independently built full-stack quantum computing architecture. According to the company, the platform includes proprietary hardware and software across all major components of the system, including chip fabrication, control systems, operating software, and environmental support infrastructure.

Origin Quantum stated that the Wukong-180 began accepting quantum computing workloads globally following its launch announcement on Saturday.

The Hefei-based company emphasized the platform’s “full-industry-chain autonomy,” highlighting its goal of reducing dependence on foreign quantum technologies and building a domestically controlled quantum ecosystem.

The launch follows the company’s previous-generation system, Origin Wukong, which debuted internationally in 2024. According to Origin Quantum, the earlier platform has remained operational for more than two years and has processed over 900,000 quantum computing tasks from users spanning more than 160 countries. The company also reported roughly 50 million remote access requests during that period.

In 2025, Origin Quantum claimed a milestone for China’s quantum industry by completing the country’s first overseas commercial export of domestically developed quantum computing power.

Beyond hardware development, the company has also expanded into education and infrastructure initiatives. Origin Quantum says it established China’s first quantum chip production line, deployed the nation’s first superconducting quantum computer, and developed a publicly downloadable quantum computer operating system.

The company has additionally partnered with nearly 100 universities across China to support quantum computing education and workforce development programs.

The release of Wukong-180 reflects growing global competition in quantum computing, as companies and governments continue investing heavily in superconducting, photonic, trapped-ion, and neutral-atom quantum technologies.
